Against
the backdrop of the Civil War, eight close friends, students at Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute in Troy, New York, founded Theta Xi Fraternity with the intention
of building an organization, which would be national in scope. The date was
April 29, 1864 and from these roots, the principles and purposes joining our
founders together have appealed to over 60,000 students at colleges throughout
the country.
The

The
long-lasting, even lifetime experience these members have enjoyed, and which
is now being made available to you, continues to be marked by memories of countless
good times shared with true friends – Brothers in the Bonds of Theta Xi.
It
is unique because, with your fraternity brother, you share and subscribe to
a common purpose based upon high ideals that have appealed to men throughout
history. In working and enjoying college life together to reach mutually decided
upon goals, the friendships you develop will continue throughout the years,
making your Fraternity experience with Theta Xi truly a lifetime experience.
Theta
Xi also provides you with an opportunity to expand your personal development
beyond areas available to most college students. Participating in the organization
and operation of a Theta Xi Chapter by planning social events, organizing intramural
teams, working with alumni, handling chapter finances and many other tasks with
further develop your individual talents and skills. These will provide you
with valuable tools in the areas of communication and leadership that will continue
to serve you well beyond your college years.
The
reward for these efforts is enjoying the satisfaction of accomplishing the goals
you have set for yourself and for your Fraternity – all the while having the
