Theta Xi Foundation
Rudd
Edward I. Rudd Scholarship
Edward I. Rudd, Jr., Alpha 420, was
initiated at R.P.I. in 1928 and graduated from Rensselaer in 1932. He died in
1996 at the age of 88. Throughout his life his daughter, Doris Rudd, remembers
that her father was committed to higher education and frequently discussed his
love for Rensselaer and his Fraternity. His commitment was so strong that Brother
Rudd included Theta Xi in his estate plan by providing a bequest of $40,000.00
to “constitute an endowment fund in perpetuity.” His Will provided
that the annual income from this gift be used to provide two scholarships “to
undergraduate student members of Theta Xi Fraternity; one from Alpha Chapter
at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the second to another member from any
other chapter of Theta Xi Fraternity.”
These scholarship awards are presented
in the Spring of each year and announced at about the time of Founders Day.
Initially, each scholarship will be for $1000 and will increase as time passes.
