This marks the third year of Theta Xi’s newest leadership experience – Rising Stars Academy. This program, designed for first year initiates, will coincide with the Presidents Academy. The Rising Stars Academy will concentrate on providing attendees an opportunity to assess and develop their leadership styles and skills, in an interactive and experiential setting. Along with new members from across the country, they will gather ideas they can take back to strengthen their chapters in the areas of recruitment, membership education and overall operations. In addition, their team building skills will be strengthened by accomplishing tasks presented on an exciting outdoor leadership challenge course.
Attendance at the Rising Stars Academy is limited to new members initiated since January 1, 2007. Theta Xi Foundation pays all on-site costs for ONE new initiate (two for All True Men chapters/colonies). Costs for travel to and from St. Louis are the responsibility of the member. Additional members can and are urged to attend. Additional attendees are charged a reasonable registration fee. Many chapters and/or their alumni association help cover travel costs and registration fees for additional attendees.
- Interested brothers should register online no later than January 4, 2008. Remember, members initiated since January 1, 2007 are eligible to attend. If your Fall Associate Member Class would normally not be initiated till classes resume in January, seriously consider moving up the initiation to make these men eligible. This is a great way to introduce young brothers to the national Fraternity and its leadership training opportunities!
- Submit a $25 registration fee when applying online. Theta Xi Foundation covers all on-site lodging and food costs for one member (two for All True Men chapters/colonies). The registration fee for a 2nd member is $425 and each additional member is only $375.
- Make your travel arrangements as soon as possible. The travel cost to attend the Academy is the individual responsibility of each member or his chapter/colony. Brothers can seek chapter support for travel or approach their Alumni Association for travel assistance. Alumni Associations can request funds from their Chapter Education Account (if one exists) to reduce travel expenses using the Academies Grant Request.
- You MUST be in St. Louis by 11:00 am on Friday, January 18th. Buses will depart shortly thereafter.
- Plan to depart AFTER 4:00 pm on Monday, January 21st.
- Please book travel arrangements to arrive and depart with plenty of time to account for weather conditions, transfer from the airport to and from the registration hotel, etc.
