The Presidents Academy is an exciting program that enables each chapter president to improve his personal skills and chapter operations by joining with his peers for a high quality leadership and educational weekend.
The 2008 Presidents Academy has been re-designed in response to the evaluation and feedback of attendees from the past several years. This year’s curriculum focuses on learning to apply a set of leadership competencies most needed by chapter presidents. These competencies include influencing followers to grasp a shared vision, motivating/empowering chapter members for engagement, and decision-making style/skills. The learning activities are designed to include significant time for Presidents to talk/work in small groups for common problem-solving, support, and the sharing of ideas.
Also new this year – A team of recent Past-Presidents will be on hand as peer facilitators and “experts.” Past attendees consistently rank Presidents Academy as one of the highlights of their undergraduate Fraternity experience.
Attendance is limited to the current or incoming chapter or colony president. Theta Xi Foundation pays all on-site costs while travel to and from St. Louis are the responsibility of the member. Many chapters and/or their alumni association help cover travel costs.
- Interested brothers should register online no later than January 4, 2008. If elections have or will be held soon, the incoming President is the one eligible to attend the Academy. No other member is eligible to attend. This Academy is for current or incoming chapter leaders only!
- Submit a $25 registration fee with the registration form. Remember, the Theta Xi Foundation covers all on-site lodging and food costs for each attending President.
- Make your travel arrangements as soon as possible. The travel cost to attend the Academy is the individual responsibility of each President and/or his chapter/colony. Brothers can seek chapter support for travel or approach their Alumni Association for travel assistance. Alumni Associations can request funds from their Chapter Education Account (if one exists) to reduce travel expenses using the Academies Grant Request.
- You MUST be in St. Louis by 11:00 am on Friday, January 18th. Buses will depart shortly thereafter.
- Plan to depart AFTER 4:00 pm on Monday, January 21st.
- Please book travel arrangements to arrive and depart with plenty of time to account for weather conditions, transfer from the airport to and from the registration hotel, etc.
