Brother Cameron attended Louisiana State University where he was recruited to Theta Xi’s Alpha Alpha Chapter.   He was initiated in 1939 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1942. With a successful career and strong commitment to community service, Brother Cameron’s affiliations are numerous and impressive.  

A prosperous career in real estate and mortgage banking led to his appointment as Chairman and CEO of First Union National Bank (1966-85).   He then served as Budget Director for North Carolina (1985-91).   Currently Brother Cameron serves as Chairman of University Research Park, Inc.; Chairman Emeritus and Ex Officio Board Member, Board of Governors for the University of North Carolina; Chairman Emeritus and Board Member, The Foundation of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Inc.; and Life Trustee at Wake Forest University.

He was recruited and served on the Board of Directors for the Federal Reserve of Richmond, Charlotte (1966-74); President, Charlotte Chamber of Commerce (1973); President, United Way of Charlotte-Mecklenburg (1979-80); Board of Directors, Southern Bell (1970’s & 80’s); Board of Directors, Presbyterian Hospital Foundation (1980-91).

Brother Cameron has been honored with a listing in Who’s Who in America -1965; Man of the Year-Charlotte News -1974; One Of The Most Outstanding CEO’s, Financial World -1983; Doctor of Humane Letter, honoris causa degree from Louisiana State University - 1994; Doctor of Laws, honoris causa degree from Davidson College – 2001.

Cliff resides in Charlotte with his wife Sara Anderson Cameron.   He is retired but remains active in the community and with Theta Xi.
